Who's a fan of Rick O Sound?

I just purchased one for the first time from Chris at POTR's. and instantly love the sound. Wow, I ran it to my Traynor YBA-200, and my 67 Portaflex B-15N.
Big full sound, and you can dial in some interesting tones with a little fooling around with the pickups. The 4002 sounded really nice.
Just wonder if anybody else likes it?

Me ... used it for ages on my B-25, one in each channel, then that channel diaied in for the pickup.

B-15 eh !!! I bet that must take up an awful lot of room !!!

I've got to fix the ROS on my bass and then I'll be using it! Something is shorting out on the jacks and it only works in mono. I'm too lazy/worried I won't get it working right away that I haven't tried to fix it yet.

Bob; I was not a big fan;

I tried the Ampeg (STV 8 x 10) Neck P.U. and SWR (1 X 15)for the bridge P.U.

It just did not sound natural to me.

Anyway, I’ll trade the 3 ROS boxes I have for your 4002??????

Love the Ric-O-Sound!!! I have 2 channels on my V-4B, each has it's own volume, used with an 8x10 cab.

I dig it too. When we have extra time for set up, usually on Saturday jams I use it fairly often. I may like it more than the rest of the band, but it's nice to run pure lows through a 15" & distorted highs through 10"'s!

Absolutely! Every recording I've ever made with a Ric I've run the neck PU through whatever rig I had and the bridge PU through a SMALL guitar amp, Valco, Supro, Vox, what have you. Very dynamic and "live" sounding.

If for some reason your jack is broken and you can only run mono, you can get a similar effect by splitting the signal and running one tail through a high-pass filter to simulate the bridge PU....

I used to use it through two channels of an SVT until I realized I could get virtually the same sound mono. I still thinks it's usefull though for those who like effects. I have a ric-o-sound box, you never know when I'll be using it. I'd like to try it through two SVT's but I haven't been in that kind of band now for a while, I only play Conway Twitty now, stuff like that, haha!

I posted this over in the Dudepit as well, but I do want to point out that unless the Ric-O-Sound box has some electronics in it that i am not aware of, you can achieve the same effect with a Y cord (male stereo jack to two mono females) available at Radio Shack. I used this setup for three years in the early '70s. Neck pickup to an Acoustic 360, bridge pickup to a Kustom 200 head driving a midrange horn with a capaitor to block the lows.

You need good wire or you'll pick up all kinds on noise as I did in the past (that counts out radio shack) and shouldn't need a cap in the speaker circuit especially with a capped 4001, that will just waste power.

We did that to keep full range from going through the horn diaphragm. BEtter way would've been to use 10" speakers for the bridge pickup. We played so damned loud that noise was never a problem. Still sounds good on live tapes I have.

My first band had a Bogen PA with two bull horns for PA speakers after we got sick of running the mic's throught the two Silvertone Twin Twelves with two guitars and a bass in them already, deluxe sound. We were a garage band no matter what we played, ahah!

I made a box with a switch for each channel, but it doesn't let both play at once. I must have wired it up wrong - shows how much I know about electronics. I am going to build one with switches that light up when they're on... one day.

Want to play through bridge pickup only for intros, interludes etc then kick in with the neck when more bass is required.
