Custom Paint Job's

Post by lowendbob »

Can anyone recommend an artist or luthier that does custom paint work?
I'm thinking of having something done to my c64S.
Buy it before someone else does.

Nope.

Sorry Bob, I can't either, but I am interested to know what sort of thing you have in mind. I've often thought of having something unusual done to one of mine, but don't really know what....

I really like Ronns bass...

Bob, I would die to have a C64S again. Why would you want to change the clear satin finish?? I really miss the feel of that bass and especially the un-laquered neck and fingerboard. Don't do it!!!!

Tony, I like Ronn's bass too. I haven't really given it that much thought myself. There was a formite hear that was called BlueFlameRic I believe. He had some pretty unusual stuff done. I can't seem to find any of his threads.
The pic below is cool, I'll probably have something really crazy done like that.

Scott, I love the satin finish too. I wouldn't touch the neck, and most likely would leave most of the finish on the body. I was thinking of just giving the body some colorful design.

I love that one Bob...fantastic. I know that some would not find this to their taste, but if you have a collection of 'users', then why not do some thing crazy. I have often toyed with buying a Red 330 ('cause they're the cheapest) & doing something mental with it. If I could think of the design, it would be a real possibility.

I paint abstract occasionally & have always thought that it would be good just to paint on it & then have it sealed.

Speaking of my bass, did you guys see the thread "Ric painting" in Rickenbacker General?

Here's my blue flame bass.

I've heard from quite a few people that Mike Dolan does great finish work. Seems like he's done some custom graphics too. http://www.dolanguitars.com/gallery.htm

Bob, if you call Thomas Rieser @ (714) 731-6262
he owns T.R. Guitars and is a personal friend, he has an Airbrush Artist that does the original (anything you want) art work on an instrument, then Tom clear coats it. One of the best I've ever seen.

Jeff Levenson, AKA Fab Gear, in the Detroit area. Great guy, and does first-class work. Specializes in Beatles stuff, but has recently done a Clapton Blackie Strat and a Page Dragon Tele. Oh yeah, and my Clapton Fool SG.

Jeff's email is jokerace72@aol-dot-com
