Original Songs - 330 Featured

Post by steverok »

Hey all, not sure if sharing original song recordings is a big activity on this forum, but here goes, for you high speed internet types. I finished my latest EP, now available online. My Ric 330 is used quite prominently on songs 3, 4, and 5. This is some moody music, I just can't help it :-) Like it or not, this is me. Not bad for a drummer, eh?

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. As per the EP title, they were all done in my living room. I have an Akai DPS16, which is a 16-track hard drive recorder and mixer. They don't make them anymore. Most of the effects and EQ were done with my own boxes. I recorded the drums with four mic's, and most of the rhythm guitar tracks were doubled. The mixes were done listening through a pair of KRK powered speakers. I have an AKG C3000 condensor mic for vocals.

Mitch, notice that I don't even need to say which guitar parts were the 330 ... it's plain as day, isn't it? I love the way that guitar records, it is a very full and pretty rhythm guitar sound.

"The Other Side" is about a friend who disappeared. I know it has an R.E.M. feel, I do not hide my influences. I already started the next project, I need to get my new 360-12VP in there, and I am resurrecting an old song which is just screaming for a Rickenbacker. The next CD will be even more Ric-based ... gee, I think I found my sound :-)
