Sometimes the sound of those old cabs are partially the speakers breaking up a little and a new modern high wattage speaker won't sound the same. I always liked Eminence though, not too expensive, last a long time and sound good to me. I think they make speakers for a lot of different manufacturers.

I use Eminence Kappa Pro 12's in my 4x12, awsome speakers, tons of power @ 500w each, and tremendous punch and range !!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, just wanted to thank you all that helped with my speaker question. I just finished up yet another recording session. I think we spent about 12 hours working on a new song. We couldn't get the drums and guitar to sync up, but the bass line was really smooth. I used the same setup as before only this time we added reverb to the bass and got a really weird "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" sound. Very cool.

Cool shots, Steve. That 64S is awesome. I'll get another one day. BTW, where'd you get the cool hat?

Here's a shot of me in my buddy's recording / practice space. Don't really know what I was playing though. I think it was one of the new songs we were working on that day. Whatever it was I was plaaying pretty fast. Haha!

Meant to attach this to the last post. Its weird seeing pictures of my playing. My bass looks higher on me than it actually is. 2/4s of the upper cutaway is above my belt.

Scott and Jeff

Thanks guys, the C64S is just a dream to play and still gets oohs and aahhs everytime I play it.

The cool hat is exactly that, very cool, but anyone can get one from the Talk Bass Website. It has the bass clef logo and underneath it says "Got Bass?", nothing on the back either. I've had bass players walk across the street to ask where I bought it so it is an attention getter.

The short strap? It's a Levy threaded through the adjustment slits as short as it will go and attached by the shorter strap button hole. Extremely comfortable too.
