This is the guy who sold me my 4000. His shipping costs are high, but I'm having Fedex pick up from him so no extra costs.

749$ (or more) + shipping + painting + refinishing = damn too high for a 80's 4001 (JG)...

Jim, I personally think $35 is pricey, that's why i asked him to allow me to arrange my own pickup. It'll cost me about $16-18 fully insured.

Based on those figures you're right Marc.
I've just came off buying a bunch of stuff for work. A 25" Professional Sony Broadcast Monitor cost me $300 to ship, I was initially comparing the $35 to that. !!!

Jim, alot of these guys go to local shipping depots to ship. When you ask those places to box and ship, they charge a fortune. Most Ebay guys just pass the cost on to you.

'NH' dates to August 74, right? That 4001 is definitely eighties, as hinted at by the fatter body horns. What's the story here? Hello?

74 would likely have 1/2" spacing on the neck PU also...

You're quite right, Ed, but the pickguard could be a replacement, whereas the body horns are a dead giveaway.

Either late 70's or early 80's I would think, it has a skunk stripe. I think it could possible be although unlikely a late 74, I have seen a few that looked like that with high gains. I've never seen a stock toaster with 1" spacing.

Looks like a 4003 to me. I have a 72 4001, and the body is different.

the toasters were stock on 4003s5 and 4003s8 basses with the 1" spacing ...

That would make sense since the toasters have 6 magnets... better for 5's and 8's.

Speaking of 8's... it's a shame that they didn't use the headstock like the 8 that Chris Squire has. It was weird, but better than that elongated 4001 headstock!

They really should have made it like a Rick 12 string...
