It does have checker-board binding and crushed something inlays.

At least it's not a bolt-on like that other tool was trying to pass off as a 4002. But yeah, that deserves the Townshend treatment.

apart from the pickups, that looks like its probably a real playing nice bass (tho a copy of course)

I WANT THAT 1-STRING BASS!!!

Also, the Ric copy on eBay is basically set up, pickup-wise, to be an SG bass . . . it has the huge, deep neck pickup and little distorted mini-humbucker for the bridge. If you just cleaned it up a bit and maybe put some not-so-hideously-huge tuners on it, it would be a good bass for Jack Bruce stuff. Maybe.
