I saw the following listing in the current issue of Musicians Hotline and thought some of you might be interested:

1967 Rickenbacker 4005 Fireglo! Crushed sparkle inlays, Rare! Checkerboard binding, All original. EC+, OHSC

It was listed by Gary's Classic Guitars in Cincinnati, OH
www.garysguitars.com

Good luck!

Sorry for posting that 'late' listing...I didn't know it was already scooped up. My bad.
I guess they never clean out the old ads in Musicians Hotline.

HA!! That one on Gary's site is NOT mine!! THAT one had already sold by the time I inquired about it....He took my e-mail address in case another came up.....a few weeks later, another DID come up .... he contacted me, gave me a price (GULP) and I went for it... MINE never hit his website...thank God....

I put out MANY e-mails to LOTS of websites and people and got many responses....that's what you need to do, "just in case" ....
I KNOW that's how a few guys here got their "holy grail" basses...

I know what you mean... I've posted "Ric Wanted" all over the place... That's how I got my '78 4002 and my '69 4001. I found the 4005 on a website and was just lucky that I probably saw it first!

I saw a 4005 today in Osaka - it was listing for the great price of 780,000 yen - that's only a little over US$7000! I think it was Burgandy-glo and late '60s? But I'm not sure, my head is swimming with numbers - model numbers, prices, etc.

Actually I was bass shopping - the only Rick in my range was a 1993 4004 Laredo, for $1000. It looked alright online, but in person it was beaten on! And I really don't see any point in buying an American-made bass while I'm here in Japan, so I got a Fender Japan Mustang bass! *ducks*
