Three Who songs: Magic Bus; Pinball Wizard; Behind Blue Eyes (although the last two are actually from the early 1970s).

I mentioned this on another thread (1960s Car Songs), The Beach Boys' "Fun, Fun, Fun".

"Louie Louie" The Kingsmen, has one of the most recognizable beginnings in rock history, don't know how I forgot that one.

"Lola" by the Kinks...is that sixties or seventies? J***s, I'm gettin' old...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

"Join Together" by the Who...cool harmonica and that mouth-harp thing with the anti-Semitic name...I rushed out to buy the single when it came out. Sounds best in the dark late at night.

Again, the age thing...

I think Lola was right on the line, maybe 1970?

Revolution, with its ripping guitar and scream.

Ob La Di Ob La Da

Moondance

California Dreaming

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Great Balls Of Fire (short intro, but kicks you right into it, and fast)

Whole Lot Of Shaking Going On

Folsom Prison Blues (original 50's release or 68 live release---instantly recognizable guitar intro)

Ring of Fire (horns on a Johnny Cash release!)

All excellent example Andrew. Great songs lister here.

For the record Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? is 1971 and Moondance is 1970 I think.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

My mistake on Moondance and Does Anybody.....Moondance sure could pass for late 60's.

It's a close call for both of these songs.

That Chicago Transit Authority song was released in 1969 on the LP, was a hit single in 1970 and 1971 though. Two songs were hits twice on that album, that one and "Questions 67 And 68" which was 69 and 71, very interesting.
