The Ric basses have arrived in terms of collectibility I think and it's long overdue.
2 to 3 years ago you could still pick up a good 60's Ric bass for around $1500-2000. Jazz basses were essentially big $$$. I paid $2K at Xmas 2002 for my 68 (9.5 Ex++, original case, strap, cloth) that I found online at the VG ads. It had been there for over 6 weeks with no takers.
The 60's Fender basses seemed to have not risen a great deal compared to Rics in this period. I think people have finally caught up with how rare they are and how great they look and sound.

Bob very kindly gave me the opportunity to buy the 72 after he decided he had just had to have a c64s.
I hesitated over that bass when the BIN was $1500, and should have pulled the trigger, I took a deep breath, and Bob got in there. I emailed Bob and mentioned a price I was willing to pay if she ever came up for sale. When Bob got the urge for a c64s, we did the deal.
Now I have her, she's not going anywhere.

For sure she's as nice a Fireglo as I've seen, and most of you know my predeliction toward Fireglo.
She has some signs of having seen a lot of playing time, and a few minor scratches, I was / am toying with the idea of sending her to Marc for a refinish, but I'm still undecided.
