The BEST of them, IMO, so good that to call it a "Sob Song" would be demeaning it, was

every song about love is a sob song in some ways, I think the original thread seemed to be one of which ones made you cringe, those three as Paul says don't not a fan of motwon but Crying still brings a shiver to your spine.

Any body ever heard Terry by Twinkle big hit in UK but total rubbish

Yeah, it's the cringers that are humorous in retrospect. They are so transparently cynical money grabbing efforts that you want to cry--but for other reasons.

I was just making the point that in every category you can find good stuff. And I must have struck the right chord. Look at the comments.

Yeh I agree all three are classics. Crying is amazing. Angel of the morning made me want to move to Seattle. Merrilee Rush was a good looking girl and well Tears of a Clown. Lets just say thats someone elses bag. Good song though.

Tears of a Clown by the way was originally an instrumental by Stevie Wonder and some other fellow. By accounts that I have read Smokey Robinson added the lyrics after he heard it.

We're on the same wavelength Bob. Angel Of The Morning was covered here in UK by Billie Davis who in my not so humble opinion made a far better version of another American Song Tell Him originally by The Exciters I Think.

I have a version of Angel by The Tremeloes also.

Paul at the time of that songs release I lived in Vancouver B.C. I remember seeing her on TV and thinking what a voice and she looks good too. As opposed to the like of Janice Joplin who was let say homely?

And Roy my wife calls me all sorts of names so not to worry. After 35 years of marriage I am conditioned to answer to anything.

Janice Joplin was voted "Ugliest Male" by her HS senior class in Port Arthur, Texas.

I can believe it. Great singer but I am glad that MTV was not around at the time she was enough to turn me off my dinner. She was a Texan? I never would have thought that. You learn something every day.

Reminds me of the movie Full metal Jacket when the sargeant asked where the recruit was from and he answered "Texas"

I laugh every time I think of the sargeants response. Too funny. See what you missed by not being drafted. Drill sargeants and sneers. I bet you are happy I know I would be.

How about Claptons SG Special and Jack Bruce's Fender 6 String Bass? Not

Or how about John Lennons Rolls Royce? I don't think so. Maybe George Harrisons Strat. Thats a tough question Paul. They're all butt ugly.
