There were some comic songs from the early 60's I think an Aussie Rolf Harris did some of these:
"Me Boomarang Won't Come Back" "Al K Hol and Nick O Teen" and the big chart topper "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" Seems life was so simple back then. I miss this kind of humor in music, but then we were so young and innocent.

"My Boomarang Won't Come Back" Dale was actually a British Comedian called Charlie Drake made number 10 in UK in 1961. Tie Me Kangroo Down Sport made number 9 in UK in 1960 but made number 3 in US in 1963.

Other song you got me on, never heard of it

'60's music is alive and well in Central Wisconsin as well. At least next weekend. One of my bands from the '60's has reunited for a Rock & Roll Reunion show featuring four local acts from that era. We will be performing 19 tunes in 60 minutes, remember those days when almost everything was three minutes or under?

As a bonus we have the keyboard player from The Grass Roots, Dennis Provisor, playing with us that night. Back in the early 80's I did a two year stint as the tour bass player with them, matter of fact they hired myself, the lead player and drummer from our band. Dennis is now living here in Stevens Point, still playing out too, ever since he left the Grass Roots.

Oh yeah, Rickenbacker content is a Byrds medley we are doing, "Feel A Whole Lot Better", "So You Want To Be A Rock 'N' Roll Star", and "Eight Miles High". Featuring a Rickenbacker 360 twelve string and of course my 4001 C64S. "Kicks" and "Get Together" are the closing songs of the twelve string feature for the show.

"My Boomerang Won't Come Back" may have even made #1 in Australia, Roy. I've always enjoyed the older funny stuff like that, including Lonnie Donegan ("My Old Man's A Dustman", "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour", etc.......)

Roy I have a 45 that I bought in the summer of 1967 by a group "Colours" English band I believe. The song was titled "Love One Another" the hook line was "We All Love One Another" it had one of the finest dual harmony guitar solos ever. What do you know about this 1 hit group.

I believe you may be one year out they made the top 75 in US just in September 68, with Love Heals, never heard it but I think they were American as their releases were on DOT label which to me suggests that, made 3 singles as far as I can gather.

Righty Oh Roy. I got the record out and it is "Love Heals" Great Song. 1968, my memory is slipping, all those years ago. Thanks for the info. Now to see if I can find their origin.

I fumbled through my vinyl collection tonight and found this gem. It's a 70s release of Pye hits from the 50s and 60s on the "Astor" label (I used to work there, so I got it at staff price!). The cover's a bit marked but the records are near mint. Sorry about the flash!!

I seem to remember her to be quite a good singer. Didnt she sing on stage in bare feet?
