Beautiful, New and Midnight Blue

So here's my new baby...a 620/12 in Midnight Blue! It has a really strange quality of reflecting like a mirror and appearing light or dark depending on the surroundings...

She joins my trusty 1983 4001JG I picked up back in 1991...as the rabbits look on from a safe distance

When the 360/6 BlueBurst ordered right after the NAMM show finally arrives I'll have to take a new family portrait!

Congratulations, Dennis! A 660/12 FG was my second purchase. That dark looks so much better than the light, I have to say!!

I'd be interested to hear your impressions re: playability with the wide neck.

Those are pretty! I have a 620/12 and it remains my choice for Rickenbacker 12's as opposed to the more popular 330/360's. Enjoy

Nice... I have a similar 660/12 in mapleglo which I (naturally) switched out the white plastic for black).

Thanks for the nice comments all. The 1st couple days after it arrived, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and just go in the music room and stare at it. I didn't even plug it in to an amp for the 1st few days

Howard, I'm confused about your question re: the wide neck. I just checked the Ric site for specs and it shows the 330/12,360/12, & 620/12 all the same for neck width at nut (41.3mm), neck width at 12th fret (49.2mm), and crown radius (25.4mm). It then shows the 660/12 as wider at the nut (44.5mm) and the 12th fret (52.4mm). So the 620/12 is actually the widest neck of them all. Does this sound correct? Have these dimensions changed in the past few years?

Sorry, Dennis - my mistake! I was thinking of the 660 - it and the 650 series are the wider ones. The 330, 360 and 620 are all the same at the neck (1-5/8"). Funnily enough, I've never taken width at the 12th fret into account!

No problem...it was funny, when I began researching which Rik 12 model I was going to buy I noticed that the neck width between the 6 and 12 versions of the 330/360/620 were all the same. I was surprised that the 12's weren't a bit wider than their 6 string counterparts.

Guess that's part of the magic
