That sound

Post by charlyg »

I have sold my Eden rig and while waiting to see if I win the V4B on ebay, I was messing around with the BA210SP tonite. It has a style switch with 5 positions. The best one to me is flat!(3 on the dial).

I messed with the effects and I hit the SVT selection. The tone I have been searching for ever since I started playing again in 90 was there! I have been unhappy with my G and D string sound. It seemed a bit trebly to me but if I changed anything, the bottom would boom again. The SVT setting gave me that warm tone at the top without booming at the bottom. I am getting close!

Just so everyone understands, this is with my 87 4003! I don't want anyone to think it's a non forum topic!

I have a BH115HP. It sounds great with all my basses for rehearsals and small gigs. I do kinda wish it would tilt back like the BH 115, though.
Never ask "how much worse could it possibly get?"

Tilt? Put a piece of 2 x 4 under it the front. Or buy an amp stand. Even though my Genz Benz NEOx 400 has a flip-down handle on the bottom to tilt it, it doesn't tilt far back enough. I use the stand if I'm right on top of the amp in a small gig, the 2 x 4 if I'm farther away.

Well. I played the Ba210sp today at church with the SVT effect and I am REALLY close now. This is with DR Hi beams. I am going to try some chromes next week and see if that's the thing. The last set of strings I had on twenty years ago when I quit for a "while" had flats on it. The amp was set to flat across the board, svt effect on, and the neck vol rolled off a touch! Believe it or not, it blew my Eden rig away!
