If anyone knows the accurate into and solo to the song " Surfin USA" that would be incredible.

Also, the Beatles song " You can't do that " That intro as well.

Sean, Surfin USA's intro is 12+ bars long! I've never seen it tabbed, mostly because it's a basic Chuck Berry intro that's been hotrodded with a Fender Jaguar and .011 Chrome Flatties.

If you can get the basic Berry riff nailed, and listen closely to the BB song, try to learn it 4 bars at a time. Fortunately, it's down to manual dexterity more than music theory, so we non-Julliard-trained nerks have a shot at impressing all the Surfer Girls!

Awhile back I bought an inexpensive digital device called a Sabine Backtrack BT 300. It records from CDs, tapes, LPs, etc, in 45-second soundbites that you can then replay at 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3 speed--with no pitch change. You can plug your instrument in and play along, too.

It's the nutz for unscrambling solos and fingerpicking patterns.

DUH!!! Jeez, I'm sorry, Sean, very sorry!

As our friend Aitch knows (I sent him a picture last week), I'm the proud new owner of a Candy Apple Red Fender Jaguar. Last night and part of this morning, I was crankin' out (with stiff fingers) all the old BB songs that my old surf bands used to play.

...and I had "Fun, Fun, Fun" on the brain because it was the last song I had been playing today...

Anywhooo..."Surfin' USA also has a modded Chuck Berry riff as the intro, but its intro is much, much easier, being only a couple of bars long...

But the rest of what I said still applies.

If you want "You Cant Do That" in the key of G here is a link.

Personally I play it in E. I believe that the Beatles played it in the key of D. Probably drop tuning was used since it is so easy to play in the key of E

Cant help with BB stuff. I never played any of it with the exception of Sloop John B. That was because we liked a cover version by another British band.

I play YCDT in key of D without drop tuning, using the C7 form on 3rd fret for the tonic and E barres for the rest; lead riff begins on the open D string...
