I have to confess, I actually liked Back To The Egg. I even recall reading somewhere several years ago that it was James McCartney's favorite, too (Paul's son, not his father).

I can almost always find something to like on the solo discs from the Beatles, even the "down period" Ringo stuff.

I pulled out my old "Wings Over America" CD tonight and gave it a listen. It's been years since I last sat down and really followed every song. This is a kick arse CD! Macca is just killing the bass through-out. I had forgotten some of the songs that where performed, but it was almost like a breath of fresh air to hear songs like Call me Back Again, Beware My Love, Soily, Letting Go & HI, HI, HI. His bass playing and singing was so dynamic and aggressive, great energy. Some of the other songs that Denny & Jimmy sang on were very good as well, and of course Macca was ripping through great bass lines on those songs as well. I'm glad I pulled that ol' CD out tonight, it really was great to feel that energy again.

McCartney's bass is awesome. I believe that album had a great deal of post production, but who cares. I like this album because he played songs like the ones you mentioned David. He'll never play those again. Not that I don't appreciate the set list of recent tours, but it sometimes seems like a Beatles nostalgia act. I would be happy if he played Hi Hi Hi, Letting Go etc... and dropped Let it Be, The Long and Winding Road and Yesterday. But maybe thats just me.

Brian, I agree it would great to hear some of those more hi energy songs of his Wings period. I'm afraid that the concern to crank up those old Wings tunes as opposed to the more familiar Beatles tunes is that the majority of the fans are probably going to the concert hoping to hear the Beatles stuff (which I love as well) so he is gearing his shows for that type of audience. But, it sure would be great to hear him pull out the ol' RIC and tear up a few of those kick arse Wings rockers. Hell, I'd love to hear Rock Show as his intro, just like '76, it would be awesome!

I've always wondered where guys like McCartney begin when choosing their setlists - I mean, where would you start? And it's not even that he has more than enough songs to fill a show-he has more than enough mega-hits to fill a show!

Me too Bill. I always wondered about why Junior's Farm was on the setlist for the 75' Wings Over Europe Tour, but not the 76' Wings Over America.

David, You're right about what the fans want to hear, but for me I would like to see some of the old Wings stuff. Like I said, how many times do I want to hear Let it Be.

If you think the Wings Over America CD is awesome, check out the DVD.

And no, I don't know the seller. I actually bought one a few months ago from another seller, and can't stop watching it.

I also agree with you guys. More Wings, less Hey Jude, and Let It Be.
Buy it before someone else does.

Junior's Farm is one of my all time fav's

I had the original laser disc. Nice show, but I recall that the whole things seemed to be way too dark -- as in not enough light. very hard to see at times. Is the DVD better?

No problem Andy, your going to love it.
I guess mine is somewhat dark. I just thought it was the stage setting, but I don't have any problems seeing the concert.
Buy it before someone else does.

I saw the original movie at the Zigfield (spelling unsure) Theater in NYC when it first came out and from what I can recall it was a little dark

On the wingspan DVD there are 2 songs from 'wings over america'. "Jet" and "Let 'em in". I rented the vhs of the concert last year and it is super dark. The dvd of those 2 songs has it brightened up and digitally cleaned up quite a bit.

Hoping a fixed up version comes out on dvd some time!

Hi remember seeing "Rockshow" in the theater and thinking it was dark. Maybe it's just dark.
