I think you are probably right, Mike. Direct private sales are relatively free of the "wonder if I'm being shafted" feeling. I get very nervous with eBay!!

Meanwhile, Howard is setting us up for when he snipes the auction at the last minute Image.

If it approaches the 4k range I am OUT.
I don't spend that much on the cars I drive.

Ron...not mine...that's a picture I got from clicking on the little smiley face when I posted.
There's some clip art there you can use.

Not interested, Ron. I've got one Rick bass (4003FG) and that'll do me. I'll leave the fancy and special stuff to those who can't help themselves!! Image

I'm out of this one. I used the money to buy a Martin HD-28. Besides, I have 9 Ric basses and a 4001C64 on order, so I consider myself lucky in that regard.

I think I'm out too.
I have a tough time justifying- even to myself- that kind of money for an instrument.

But...I may go for it.

It is worth $4K if you have $4K you are willing to spend on it!?!? They have been steadily on the rise so I don't think it is an outrageous amount and that one looks to be in great shape. Don't worry about if others think it is a "stupid amount" just think it through on what is important to you and go from there.

I say "BUY IT !"........afterall, it isn't my $$$$$ Image.

Thanks Brian,
I appreciate your reply, and just so everyone knows, I am not so concerned about what everybody thinks as much as I am with the ability to turn it over later without losing my shirt, so to speak.
In other words, I'm not looking to "buy low- sell high" as much as "buy right- break even".

I saw a darn near mint CS at the Philly show with all the goodies at another dealer's table for $3500.00 this past June. If this one goes for any more than that, I'd just attribute it to bidding frenzy. I do get that myself from time to time.Does anybody know of any '72 Mapleglo's from Germany for sale????
