Nice!

If I didn't just get a new (to me) Ric yesterday I'd be all over it......

I'd love to make a 5 string but I'm not hip on the color so much!

Midnight Blue is much better in person (if you have only seen it in pics). It always looks wet and the metalflake adds a nice shimmer.

Believe it or not if you asked me what color does Rickenbacker remind you of i would say blue,i remember the aruzas of the 70s and just associated the color with the company, blue and Ric's are classics.

For some reason I think that blue 4003's and 4001's look weird, but I think that blue is perfect for a 4004. I definitely associate the fireglo color the most with Rics.

Not too long after I got my Laredo (also a 2004) a blue 4004L was on eBay from a seller in Durango Colorado. The guy got the BIN of I think $1300...that bass was not as dark a blue, but could have been a trick of the light, too. I wonder wonder won-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa...oops, sorry! Image, is that the same bass?

It looks clean...at $1200 it looks to be a pretty good deal, although I've seen a used 2004 Cii for that price at my local Sam Trash.

you can score a brand new 4004L from music 123 for under $1300 ...

And Charly ... do you really want a ric 5 string bass? ... I can convert one or sell one if you really need one ... the price is the cost of the bass plus $300 for parts and labor ...

It didn't sell:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=7336622377&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

He listed it without photos and a 1200.00 BIN, then later added photos and raised the BIN. I think he's mistaken about it having a maple fretboard!
