Return of the Shaftsbury copy on Ebay

Oddly enough (or not) Burns are making a bit of a comeback here in Oz, as are Hofner. As I recall, the Burns guitars were a real handful in the 60s - big bodies and very heavy! The current signature Hark Marvin jobbie goes for quite a bundle ($3200 AUD), as does the Brian May black/gold special ($2700 including case). I love the way they use the original terminology - 'Reso-tube' tremolo system and 'Reso-Matic' pickups... haha!!
I agree with you on the fiddly bits - less is more!

I have not seen any here in Canada yet but I did see a distributor on the net in the US is selling them. It was probably ER. But I am not sure of that. Paul would probably know. It seems to me that they are quite expensive.
Not my cup of tea. Rics, Strats and LP's will do me just fine.

I bought the ES-335 instead of an LP, Brian. I like to be a bit different..... and playing jazz on an LP just doesn't quite look right (not that I can play, mind you)!!
Jeez..... it's 2.15pm and I'm supposed to be cleaning, de-cluttering and setting up a pseudo music room! Oh well, there's always tomorrow and Friday (long, boozy lunches with mates notwithstanding)!

They're not too bad on price, Brian and Aitch. I seem to remember the $600.00-$700.00 range. There are some major distribution deals in the States, too.
I did not mean to appear to run their quality down; from what I have heard, the build quality is pretty good. North Coast carries them, as does myrareguitars.com.

Now is that a tremolo, a vibrola, a whammy bar or a thang on that Bison?
How does it work? It appears to have sort of slide mechanism? Look at all those knobs to twiddle. A twiddlers dream.

It's a faithful reproduction of the '64 'Reso-Tube Tremolo System', Brian (whatever that means!!). As distinct from their 'Deluxe Tremolo System'.
Yep! Far too fussy for my liking. That bass does look pretty good, though.....
This one is butt-ugly!!
I'm thinking we should move any further discussion of non-Ricks to the 'Others' topic, yes? Don't want to incur the wrath of Peter!!

By the way guys the plug got pulled on the Shaftsbury Ric Copy.
If he re-lists the ad is going to be a screamer.
He was severely pi**ed after the first one got yanked and he had to re-list. He really vented. This should be a fun auction to watch for.

Yeh this thread is dead now that his ad has gone.
LOL
Our apologies Peter. One thing lead to another and we ended up near the Azores on this one. Way off course.
