Good point. A "composition" sounds so much more serious. Like "Why Don't We do it in the Road" is a song but "Revolution #9" is a COMPOSITION

I'd have to say "Fixing A Hole". I play it capoed up on the 2nd fret in the "D" position which makes it pretty easy and fun to play. Another hard one to do right on the acoustic guitar is "Penny Lane".

Did the Beatles ever mess up while performing? If so, how did they handle such a thing?

Great question. I believe that the Hollywood Bowl "Live" album contained quite a few Harrison "goofs". I remember reading that one of the reasons they didn't release it back in the 60s was that George Martin thought the performance was pretty sub-par (plus the recording was not up to snuff).

I imagine that being the pros that they became, they probably just kept right on going. Besides, it got to the point that the crowd was so noisy they couldn't hear anything anyway, so they probably didn't much care.

John ALWAYS messed up while Singing the lyrics to Help, and usually Paul and George would giggle or smirk. When even I go to see a Beatles Tribute band, I always look to see if their John will intentionally blow the second verse. So far, no. But man, would that be realistic or what!

I've heard mistakes on their albums, even blown lyrics covered up. Back then you did takes. Most bands make mistakes it's covering them up that shows the calibre of the band. For ex. on the live version of "One way Out" The Allman Bros, Band, the bass player comes in one beat too early after the drum and lead break and the whole band turns around within 2 or 3 measures to him and most people don't even notice it.

I forgot about John messing up the lyrics! Take a look at the Ed Sullivan disk where they did "Help!" on the 1965 show. On one of the verses, John's singing (or mumbling) lyrics that are not even close to what Paul and George are singing.

On the released version of "There's A Place," on the second bridge, one of the two singers says "Gonna change your mind," while the other says "Gonna make you mine." I always thought the Sullivan mess up was hilarious. Just proves they're human. I've also seen Graham Nash forget the lyrics to "Our House." At which point Crosby, who was singing harmony, said, "Sure, and I'M the one who always screws up!" I also like the version of "I've Got a Feeling" that was on the Anthology and the bootleg "Kum Back" LP, where John splatters a note and says, "Aww ... I cocked it up tryin' to get loud!"
