That's almost "Montezuma" dark!!

...and if you don't like split pickguards, I highly recommend avoiding '80's 4003's.

I don't like any of the early 4003's, the ones with the split pickguards. I had two. I didn't like either one of them.

Looks almost like Autumngo, I like it also. I have an 81 4003 Burgandy it's a great sounding and playing bass. I didn't like the split pickguard years ago when I first saw them, I like them now as they're not that common and the looks have grown on me.
Charlie they only made them from 1980 to 1985 I'm pretty sure, maybe 84.

... these series of 4003 were pretty heavy. I had one I needed to sell because of back pain after a gig with a 2hrs set. My current 4004Cii is the lightest Rick I had so far...

My 80 4001 has that colouring.

A number of years ago I was looking at an older 4001 and the fireglow had aged and I decided that when the time came to get a Ric it would have to be an older fireglow.

Now I can think about mapleglow.....

This kind of Fireglo is also one of my favorites. Any that has a nice yellow to the center is a winner in my book.
