it would look something like this ...
and something like this ...
there was a 4001 on ebay a couple of years ago where they had laminated flamed maple ... it was a good job and it looked nice and Ted has shown some expertise in installing checkered binding ... and there are several good refinishers ... so I think I will make my own v68 5 string bass ... truely a one of a kind bass ...

Scott, I would like that too! And a 5 string version as well!
I know Ted and Dale Fortune have done the full-width MOP look with good results. All you need is the recipe!
Let's face it, the old ones have a certain "mojo" to them, the look, the finish, the sound. Not knocking the new ones in ANY way, but they just exude "cool". And that's why I'd like to see a re-issue.
