4003 high gains

Post by nattiep »

I need new pickups for my 4001. They are DEAD. Usually with a bass when I press down on a string with my left hand without hitting it with the right it rings out great. With my 4001 I get nothing. I play over the neck pick up most of the time al la Geddy Lee but now I have to smash the strings over the bridge pickup to hear anything. That why I break strings. The E pole pieces are chipped and they suck.

How much are 4003 high gains and does anyone here have any for sale?

you can get 4003 pickups here ... http://www.the-music-connection.com/ricpart.htm ...

to verify that your pickups are really dead take them out and test them on an ohm meter ... you can get a cheap one from Radio Shack ... a 4001 pickup will be about 8k ohms when working correctly ... a 4003 pickup is about 11k ohms ... 4003 pickups will make your bass louder and fuller sounding ...

I really like the idea of recyling materials Chris. If you do go with new pickups Nate you could always have your existing pickups repaired and then sell them or pass them along at your cost to be used again.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
