360/(12-6) vs 360/6

Post by stormy »

I was comparing the specs on a 360/12 vs 360/6 and it appears the neck dimensions are identical. I'm wondering if you removed the octave strings from a 360/12 to create a "360/(12-6)"...would it sound/feel just like a 360/6? It would be more versatile because you could string it as a 6 or 12 depending...

Yes, there is a specific reason I'm asking...the 360/12 Bluebursts are supposed to go into production before the 360/6 Bluebursts Image

Dennis,

To use a 12-string as a 6-string, you'd have to adjust the tension on the neck rods accordingly.

PS: FWIW, I'd figure out some way to just get one of each. Image

Dennis,

You may find the unused tuners will rattle.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't considered the drawbacks you both point out. Definitely makes it not worth the time & trouble to switch it back & forth.

Larry, I do have a beautiful midnight blue 620/12 holding me over until my 360/6 Blueburst arrives Image
