How Many Desert Gold 4003's?

Post by desertgoldenboy »

Does anyone know how many 4003's were made in Desert Gold back in '01-'02? I keep seeing descriptions of them saying "rare color" and "only a few made"...how rare, how few?

Maybe Mr. Hall can chime in with exact numbers?

Thanks!

I have yet to see one come up on EBay, and I only know of a few that have them.
Desert Glow with black trim is pretty sweet.
Buy it before someone else does.

Is that more or less than Seagreens? Don't want to get you started Dave....

It seems in 2000/1 the custom colours didn't sell that well. You rarely see SG or DG for sale.

I asked before about numbers sold before and that info is confidential.
Kenny could tell you, but then he'd have to......

Mike Cassano has a Desert Gold 4003, he hasn't posted here in a while.

I had one, now gone. Also had a DG 330. If what I saw in stores and online is any indication, there were a lot more DGs made than SGs. That goes for 4003s and guitars. And I've seen a lot more of them come up on eBay since.

Did they make the 4001v63 in 2001? Could there be a DG?

Just for the record, DG was the 2002 color, with later orders being made in 2003 (my 330 had a 2003 s/n). The SG was the 2001 color, with ones ordered at the end no doubt being made in 2002.

I do remember seeing that DG 4004 but not a v63, pretty sure the v63 was gone by 2002.

And yes, Paul, the Cheyenne was just biding time here before its trek to Milwaukee. Image

Actually, according to www.the-music-connection.com, DG was the '01 color (with apparent spillover to '02 and '03) and MB was '03-'04. The DG I have now has an 01 serial number.

I bought my 4003S/5 DG slightly used off eBay in 2003. I was still hesitant about the color until I opened the case, then it was love at first sight!
