17 years of waiting ended today (my first Rick)

Post by ricardo_vicente »

OK, to some it's just another 330/6 in Fireglo, to me it's the guitar I've dreamed of for more than half my life. And finally, this afternoon, when I'd already given up on receiving delivery before Monday .......... she arrived!!
I must confess that I've probably spent just as much time photographing and admiring her as I have playing since she arrived. She's just so beautiful!
Just thought I'd share my joy and some of the pictures. Enjoy!

The whole set are here for anyone who's interested

Ah the thrill of the chase and then the capture. Ricardo well done. A Ric can be an elusive quarry, especially during the time you are saving your pennies to get one. Enjoy your time together. Remember she needs to be played. But don't let anyone touch her that does not respect her. And finally never let her go.

Enjoy! I would also like to add warm welcome to the Ric forum. Post often.

Son, take time to know her.

Hey Ricardo! There is no such thing as "just another 330/6 in Fireglo". Please don't demean your purchase by saying that!! That is a beautiful example of a classic guitar and you have every right to be over the moon with joy. My first was a 330/6 FG also and it holds a very special place in my heart.

Congratulations on an excellent choice and welcome to the forum. That is a fine collection of pictures, BTW.

Now go and play that thing!! Image

Nice, Ricardo.... the first thing you need to do is take off that silly little sticker on the upper pickguard. That thing is ok for the showroom (although I still dont know why it's there), but for the real world it just HAS to GO! Think of it as a baptism.

My humble opinion, of course.

I've got an idea--let's all take those silly little stickers, glue them onto bricks, and send them--postage due, of course, to Kent in Hawaii!

Don't tell him--I want it to be a surprise!!!

Seventeen years! I know the current lead time is bad, but that means I won't get my order until 2022!

Wow, that's one nice looking 330 Ricardo and welcome. It really stands out IMO. The sticker? Well, it's a personal thing. If you don't like it, take it off, it's your guitar. There's no right or wrong thing about keeping the sticker on or off. FWIW; for me it represents something very cool, so it stays on.

Hey guys, look at a few of the pictures taken just moments later and you'll see the sticker was off within minutes. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y261/Rick_N_Backer/Guitars/Rickenbacker%20330/full.jpg

I just wanted to capture a few shots of the guitar in virgin condition and record that magic "just out of the box" moment for all time. The smell of brand new guitar from a case opened for the first time, a sealed plastic bag with a warranty card not yet filled out, the keys still stapled in the little paper bag and .... oh yeah .... the silly little sticker ;-)
