EBay, Paypal and the bank........

Rather than ignoring these, I take a few seconds to forward them to the appropriate entity, either Paypal or eBay.

Each has a spoof e-mail address, to wit:

[email protected]

They then send me a verification that it was a fake, just for my records.

I have several hundred of these to date! This is out of control, obviously.

Paul, I too have forwarded literally hundreds of spams to ebay and Paypal over the years. All you usually get is an automated reply sometimes followed by a "yes it was a spam" mail.
I once forwarded an offer that I got from some scum bag who had stolen pictures from my web site (of a guitar that I was selling on ebay at that time) and was trying to sell my own guitar to me! The "seller" said that he paid "extra fees" to ebay to get my personal information and was allowed by them to sell outside of ebay, all I had to do was send him payment to a Western Union account. I mailed him back and said that I didn't understand complicated things like banks and would it be alright if I just sent him cash in an envelope, and if so, could I have his address so that I could send it straight away. He instantly mailed back an address in New York, I replied that I only lived around the corner from him and would pay him a visit with some of my "friends", funnily enough, I never heard from him again.
I didn't get a satisfactory reply from ebay either.

I also get spoof mails about accounts that I don't even have.

Same here, Peter. I forward, not to help a lost cause, but to at least verify that it was a spoof, to eBay. Paypal I stopped forwarding to, as I closed my accounts months ago. Hence, anything I get purporting to be from Paypal and asking me to verify info, I know is a spoof and gets trashed.
