This is a machine that roughly resembles a giant ant farm, except that it's primed with highly skilled termites. There's a place to insert wood and after awhile a guitar emerges. It's a win-win situation; the workers get a fine meal and we get a guitar.

You'll find photos of one of our machines here. Looking at this page, I'm thinking we might need to detail this operation a bit more as the termites really crave publicity.

John...

With all due respect, no more visits to the finish department without your gas mask!!!

Just kidding... incredible site! It's a treat to see just what goes into making these incredible instruments!

The wood shop I worked at as a designer bought two Shoda CNC's in 1989 (Old Dude paid cash!)...I was just getting Autocad together, and suddenly I had to start thinking about 'toolpaths'...CNC's are very cool, but programming mistakes can produce quite dramatic results...

I worked on a cnc back in the early 70's ... except it was for metal and not wood ... it was controlled by a pick tape with holes in it ... cnc means computer numerically controlled if I remember correctly ...

I dunno what happened, Dane. They were fished out of the wreckage of an old dacha near Chernobyl last year.

They glow in the dark with an eerie radiance.Image

This is what Chernobyl Chicken Soup looks like, BTW...

Nah, Bri--those are chicken fingers. Near Chernobyl, every chicken has hundreds, if not dozens.

And the fish sticks are bifurcated, too.

Any excuse to work the term 'bifurcated' into conversation... Image

It pops up in the Native American artifact lexicon also, Paul.
