NPR Boo Boo

Post by revolver323 »

On today's Fresh Air on NPR, Ed Ward reviewed a Jack Nitzsche collection called "Hearing is Believing." They played an excerpt from Jackie DeShannon's version of "Needles & Pins." That's fine, but Ward then called her version superior to "the Dave Clark Five's." I e-mailed them a correction. Wonder how many other Searchers fans had white knuckles on the steering wheel when they heard that? I also have to wonder who checks facts -- if at all -- for NPR.

Dave: NPR was not completely wrong then Dave. Jackie's version is superior to the DC5's as they didn't have one. We will now refer to these folks on Fresh Air as the CPR. Thankfully you gave them a bit of resuscitation. Thanks for this bit of humour.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Ed's been living in Berlin too long...
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”
