Rickenbacker String Availability?
Does anyone buy RIC strings in their local music store or do you, like me, need to order them via on-line or over the phone? If they are not available locally, why not?

I've never seen Rickenbacker strings in a local shop. I've been ordering them directly from RIC, and, though they're expensive (about ten bucks a set after shipping, for three sets), I like the sound of them on the Rick guitars. It'd be a good thing if local shops would stock them so that we could take advantage of the dealer cost factor. Oh well...best regards.

Andrew-- Doesn't surprise me any; I'm not a fan of RIC strings. In fact, I'm not a fan of ANY factory installed string that I've ever had my fingers on. They've got a cheap feel to them that always made me think they were installed with the idea of them holding up just long enough til you got the guitar or bass home from the store. Factory strings come off as soon as possible on any instrument I purchase.
