79 450 with raise letter truss rod cover

Post by zbase »

Hi all. I just picked up a 79 FG 450. It's in very good shape except the tuning keys are not original. I would like to replace them with original ones. Does anyone know of a source? Also, the truss rod cover has raised lettering on it. Does anyone have any info on that. It's the only one I've seen that way, as my 73 4001 has the flat one, as did the 72 4001 I used to have (both mapleglo, both beautiful!).

Great site, and thanks for any responses

Jasper: Welcome to the Rickenbacker Forum. The raised lettering on the truss-rod cover was introduced around 1974. I would contact [email protected] about the keywinds.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Thanks for the response. Seems that most pics I see are with the flat lettering (is there a name for this?). Was the raised lettering just on some? Does this effect the value at all?

Thanks
