75 4003 carcass

Post by charlyg »

Ok, I know I'm gonna have a tome of questions!\

Here's the first. They rounded off the body a bit and it looks like they screwed up the binding. I am turning it for an Autumnglo that was painted black on the front into a mapleglo. It looks like I will have to remove the binding and sand smooth the edges to make it look decent. Anyone see an issue with removing binding? I would show a pix but can't figure out photoshop.

I've wanted to remove the binding on one of my 4001's for a long time(1980 4001White). I always wondered how the jackplate would fit if the binding were removed, as two of the screws screw directly into the binding. The binding is only around 1mm thick, but I would think that removing the binding would leave a slight gap there.
