Hi everyone,
Peter graciously has allowed me to post my 2nd Rocky guitar that I'm putting up for sale or trade.
One similar just sold on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=889420124+
(this guitar was not mine)
While this guitar that just sold is kinda close in detail, some details are wrong and most of the colors are not accurate.
I've done extensive research into the details, and I've created a second one. The thing that sets this apart from some of the ones that are around is that it is fully relic'd to appear as the real one does in numerous publications, such as the "Guitars of the 60's".
This guitar even has a replica "Grimwoods" sticker just like the original did. (these stickers are available if you need, please email me)
The guitar is not a real Strat(Strat is a registered trademark of Fender), but a high quality replica. It has real Kluson vintage style tuners and All Parts vintage style saddles that have been authentically aged.
The guitar has the pickups that came with it, which sound alright, but being that they are wax potted into the covers, I've included a set of relic'd covers in case the new "owner" would want to swap them out. This is not a $1000+ guitar, but it's a good basic one and the body while lightweight is solid wood. Guitar has been tested and plays just fine, but I would imagine whomever received it would more than likely use it for a display piece.
Please check out the pictures of it here:

(please note: because I have posted the pictures at a "free" site, they only allow so many individuals to view it per alloted time. As this is the case, it is possible that the site might be unavailable to you if/when you try to see the pics. If that's the case, please wait about an hour and check it again, or email me and I'll be glad to forward the pics to you.)
I'm willing to trade it too, if someone would rather do that. I'm open to any offers of trade within reason, but I'd be more inclined to Beatle related guitars/ basses, etc.
Please make me an offer, as I'm really not sure what I'd want for it or what the market would bring, but I'm going in general by the sale of this guitar that just sold, the current price of getting your own painted by some of the places that are doing it($400-600 to paint it from what I've seen and have been told) and one place that is using Mexican standard Strats, painting them inaccurately, and trying to sell them for $1700+(which I think is insane)
Thanks again Peter for allowing me to post this. Even if you're not interested in purchasing the guitar, I'd love to hear everyone/ anyone's thoughts on it.
-Jeff

Gee Jeff, what is there to say?
It isn't a Strat - so the assumption is that you are looking for something to hang on the wall to let your non-Beatle/non-guitar-oriented fans see an amateurishly decorated relic of the psycadelic '60's?
I'm not say that your work is amateurish - but lets face it: George Harrison wasn't primarily a "painter" and he was probably stoned when he took Patti's nail polish out and started doodling on his strat.
Unless you are in a trib band doing Pepper era stuff (and even then, I'd want a REAL strat).

Jeff: This is a creative bit of work to be sure and I expect that it took you quite a while to put it together. Gary's point is an excellent one, however. I too am to am wondering why you wouldn't choose a stratocaster on which to do your painting. I understand that the cost would be more but in the end I suspect that you would have a somewhat more saleable instrument if it more closely resembled the original Rocky in make as well as art. Thanks for posting it here. I will be interested in the outcome on eBay.

John: George, to my knowledge, never made any bold comments with regard to his artistic ability. The fact that this artistic work was done by a Beatle on a Beatle-owned instrument is perhaps the sole reason it came to the attention of others. Having reviewed the real "Rocky" Jeff's work captures the original very well. It is the old story, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and in this case the eyes of the Beatles' fan.
