I would make them honor the Ebay price. Can you still leave feedback? If so, I would both report them to Ebay and leave them some nasty comments.

Jeff: Not sure what I'll do beyond giving them a phone call. The beat-up 1997 JG was tagged for $1599, but I won it for $999. The very nice 1997 FG was tagged for $1999, but they sold it to me for $1199. I already had a mint 1997 FG that I bought new in 1989. And I just bought a 330 MG, that's on its way to me. So I own twelve Ricks already. Anybody feeling sorry for me yet? Boohoo..

personally i wouldn't do anything about it. your deal is over fair and square. anything they do with it after your deal was finished is their business. apparently whoever bought it didn't like it and returned it.

My dad was looking to trade in his handmade alvarez yari for a new Taylor, at GC about a year ago, it has been appraised at over $2000 they offered to give him $150 trade in. My dad tole me that he didn't even say a word. and just walked out.

Yep the Yairi will be mine one day, one sad day mind you. but man she wounds better all the time such a clear sound. My Grandfather has an old old Martin, I'm not sure on the year but it was appraised at $23,000 and dads Yairi actually sounds better. I almost hate to say it.

Yairi's are sleeper guitars, they really are much nicer than they are given credit for. Maybe the Alvarez name is the issue.

Jeff, that's great that you have such fine guitars in the family.

My friend had a Martin from the 30's in his family. The headstock had been snapped off, and it had other numberous problems. He still netted 7K from a dealer, no less.

yep they hold their value even when they are wrecked. the Martins neck has divots thru-out the back from my grandfathers old style crank capo being used over the years. and it is still worth so much dough. And I agree about the Alvarez name idea.

Finally got the guitar I won on Ebay in July ('91 1997 JG) for $999 (store tagged $1599). It was sold out from under me before the auction ended, so the local Guitar Center sold me a nicer '99 1997 FG for $1199 (store tagged $1999). Then the original guitar came back into the store, and they sold it to me for $849 (store tagged $1999). It seems the guitar never really had a case, so they knocked off $150 from the Ebay price. It's got lots of chips and scratches, but it plays like a champ. I intend to play it a lot, and then I'll think about getting it refinished. Another fine deal from Chris at Guitar Center in Dallas!

The Man scores!

Randy, a great deal and a fine instrument. I love the 1997.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Peter: Thanks. That makes (3) 1997's for me. Obviously, I think their great. I bought a new one (a 1997VB FG) in 1989. The others are recent additions to the collection. I'm really looking forward to playing the heck out of this one. It's been thrashed but still looks respectable. A few more windmills shouldn't hurt a bit...
