Johnny Burgin / The Rockin' Johnny Band

I wanted to post this blues artist's name, Johnny Burgin, a blues guitar player out of Chicago who plays a vintage FG Rickenbacker 425. He uses one from either the late '50s/early '60's because it has the metal name guard. I bought his record "straight out of chicago" (delmark blues label) a couple of years ago simply because I saw a blues player with a rickenbacker on the cover since it is pretty rare to see a blues man play a ric. The record give a good example of what one can do with a ric in other registers. His is a "early-60's" rootsy electric chicago blues. It is played pretty straight up with little heavy distortion. He plays some good lead and shows how to use a ric "out of the box". His playing pushed me away from my tele to my 660 & 360 to see what I could get out them on the blues side. From a player's perspective, he is an interesting example because in his liner notes, he stresses the importance of playing several years of rhythm guitar before playing lead on the chicago scene. He's a real woodshedder like many of us.
I am always looking for different ways to use my rickenbackers. This is a good example. Have any of you heard or seen this artist ?
