That was in 78... Arizona? Hemispheres tour.
"Don't you understand English? BACK UP!" "The stage might collapse and the show would be over and that would be a big bummer."
Didn't they play "Circumstances" that show/tour?
Least Ged's not as bad as Roger Waters... "You C*nt!" "You stupid mother f*cker!" "Stop lighting off fireworks!" Quebec... last show of the In The Flesh/ Animals tour of '77... Boot nick name was "Who Was Trained Not to Spit "ON" the Fan." Good show.
Hahahaha keep the beer!

Good idea Kevin! I have two straps and one bass. New bass comes with a strap. I'll try that! Now where are my tooth picks?
"Circumstances" is one of the few Rush songs it is hard for me to sing and play. There's ALOT of movement behind Ged's singing. Still very fun song. Now if only my piano was in tune I could play the keys part on the keys... I learned it high up on my bass to make up for it. Oh the screaming doesn't help the singing much either! That is one song I'd love to play live. Well that and "The Fountain of Lamneth". I love that song!
Roger did snap! He spat on a friggin fan! In "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" he asked the guy who lit off fireworks to come up near the stage. "All is forgiven!" Guess he let the guy come near the edge of the stage and hawked one in his face. Security kicked the fan out at that point. How evil.

"Circumstances" is one of those songs that, while it doesn't sound ultra-impressive (unlike a lot of Rush stuff), it's an absolute dog to learn. It's so deceptively difficult. And then to sing and do keyboards on top of it . . . argh! I'm glad I can't sing or play piano standing up, or I would be tempted to torture myself into learning the whole thing.
Good idea Jacob. I tried to learn it by tab 'cause it's so complicated but I'm not the best at reading tabs. I'm more of a learn by ear kinda person. (Try and learn the bass solo in "La Villa" by ear. I had to use power tabs to hear the notes correctly.)
That is a song I'm suprised I don't have to think about remembering some of the parts. It like "Do I remember that?" and it just comes out. It's also one of the few songs I don't overplay or add a little more to (my personal touch). It has enough and it's staying at that.
It's worth learing the keys for. The keyboard part is incredibly easy for me (and I'm absolute **** on the keys) I know 6 songs on keyboards and most are just little parts.
"Circumstances"
"The Trees"
"YYZ"
"Subdivisions" (No good at the solo's... fumble fingers.)

"Mission"
Yeah I know, all Rush songs, but at least with them Geddy isn't the best keyboard player. He's a self confessed hack and keys. People put him on best keyboard player lists and he doesn't think he should be there.
If a had even a ****** keyboard with a buch of sounds on it I'd be happy. A piano just isn't enough. But then I'd need the wheel thingy and to be able to have two sounds on at once... wow... I need a job!

Hack or no hack, he's still really good. Not Tony Banks good or even John Paul Jones good, but still.
I started playing piano when I was seven, but I'm only passable at it. That being said, if I sit down on a piano bench with a bass, I can do "Subdivisions" in its entirety. It took me a bit to memorize it all, but that's my one talent in playing music: I memorize easily! I still don't know any of their other keyboard bits except "Between the Wheels", and I haven't played it enough to know it by heart.

Hey, guys. I haven't been around for a while, but it's good to be back. I personally like Schallers, but the Jim Dunlop straplocks are pretty good too. I saw these funky ones that are like two plastic discs with differently place holes in them. You rotate them apart and the hole opens up. You place it over the strap and then rotate it back and you have a straplock you can remove without altering the bass. I think they were about a buck a piece. All my instruments have locks on them though.
Never ask "how much worse could it possibly get?"
