That's really nice, too bad about that hole in the pickguard but that wouldn't stop me from buying it. I think the S models are really clean looking and classy. I've passed up several over years ago because I thought they were budget Rics, and I was also using ric-o-sound at that time, ah well.

I don't see anything wrong with this bass the hardware needs cleaning up big deal look at the price its. the same bass as the white one both set necks ones cleaner than the other,the mapleglo could be very cool.

it looks real from the pictures ... but looks like a set neck bass and not a neck through ...

Its a 1980 4001s [set neck] nothing fake about that one [all rickenbacker]It needs 3 strap buttons,the nut isnt original.TSXXXX is the serial #[its no fake.]

Looks like the hardware is in bad shape cosmetically, but you could retrofit relatively cheaply or even get it replated at most any brass shop for less than the cost of a new bass. Of course you just can't tell about the neck, etc, until you get it. But if you can score it cheap and arrange for return privileges, why not? It IS a 4001. I still don't understand why any player with a brain could have buckle rash. In 40 years, I've never even so much as scratched the back of any of my basses with a buckle. If you can't play without a belt, buy tighter pants, ferChrissake!

I always cover my belt buckle with a cloth to keep the buckle from scratching up the back. It's always worked well.

Simple rule for belt wearers: rotate buckle 90 degrees right or left before donning bass. If you forget to fix it before you get offstage, think of the interesting looks you'll get from people wondering why your trouser fly is on your hip.
