Looks like the hardware is in bad shape cosmetically, but you could retrofit relatively cheaply or even get it replated at most any brass shop for less than the cost of a new bass. Of course you just can't tell about the neck, etc, until you get it. But if you can score it cheap and arrange for return privileges, why not? It IS a 4001. I still don't understand why any player with a brain could have buckle rash. In 40 years, I've never even so much as scratched the back of any of my basses with a buckle. If you can't play without a belt, buy tighter pants, ferChrissake!
