Sean....I tried the same thing for my 4003s8 about 6 months ago with no takers. Just paint your TRC and pickgaurd. I used Krylon plastic paint and it worked great. I ended up eventually getting a new pickguard because mine was cracked but the paint on it looked great.

There are several people selling black pickguards and you can get a replacement trc from Ric if you send them your current one and a few dollars ... you can get black or white ...

Obviously getting "new" is the better solution (although I prefer the black/silver painted TRC Image)....I just figured since you were looking for a trade that you might be interested in a more "thrifty" option......

Hmmmm....I just assumed the black w/silver was not available on a trade except for direct replacement. That's what I get for thinking Image.

I'll 2nd the Pickgaurdian suggestion. You can send your old one in so you are assured of your screw holes lining up....you can even get the neck p/u spaced at 1/2" if you like. Quality is great as well.

the black with white letters is no longer available ... but the silver lettered one is ... also I think you can get black with gold letters as well ... check with Ric to verify availability ...

when I got mine I got the black with silver lettering ... I know they are making the 4004L black with silver and the 4004CII black with gold lettering ... the one you got must have been a left over one ...

i think i'll just paint it. $49 to trade in my trc? get real! seems no one makes a split pickguard and i would like to keep that aspect original even if trading it.

oh well.

Right on, Sean...tiny pieces of plastic are gettin' more expensive all the time. I had one in my wallet last year that damn near ruined me...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...
