Tribute band related....sort of....
Hey all...I was just wondering. I've always had a lot of problems with wire management with my trib bands. i always wondered....is there a better way to pack wires rather then just wrap and throw them in a box? They always become tangled and it really is a time waster. I wish a company would build and all in one utilitiy box to store cords....any thoughts?

Alex: I've got a Shure wireless setup - not top of the range by any means, but it's great!
There is a trick to coiling cables - bit hard to explain but you wind alternately to the front and back of the coil you are creating. The important part is to tie the cables after they are coiled. I use velcro ties at each end of the coil and pull them out of the box using one of the ties to pick them up. The cables throw out easily after releasing the ties. Piece of cake!!

It's called "the Tradesman's Braid" up in Summit, Dane. My bro taught it to me when he was busy building Silverthorne.

How do your toes fit the fretboard on the 660/12, Aitch?

I go with Howard.... everyone tends to wrap them in a circle but this just creates loops. Go back and forth instead so that it unfurls into a straight line.
yea, and velcro ties.
But I still agree with you, Alex, the cables are still a pain even if you have the (sort of) minimum needed.
One thing (to help lighten the load) we did a while back was eliminate monitors. This was done by getting a pair of BOSE 802 speakers and mounting them above head height BEHIND the band so that they became the PA speakers and the monitors all in one. Those speakers are great and really do the job.
Of course this wont work for those fancy-schmancy bands who have individual instrument monitors, but for a simple band where eveyone has their own amp and just plugs into a common PA mixer, the BOSE solution works great.... (and they're very compact too).
