It is definitely shaping up to be a great time for all who want to come...the only obstacle at the moment is a venue, which we're working on...

Andy, you're coming from Jersey aren't you? Maybe it pays to pick you up on the way...

Not a great weekend for me a buddy of mine is doing the Maryland state Bodybuilding championships that Saturday[I'm helping him get ready for it]hmmm maybe i can go to prejudging in the morning that ends around 3pm then off to the Ric fest[ill figure it out]I wish we had more time 4-9 isn't long for people driving all that way.Ill see if i cant find a place for the weekend.Hotel convention room or something .It would be cool to have it in Ocean City,MD around those dates rates would be really dirt cheap.

Ken,

Due to the large response we've had for this particular fest, we will more than likely have an all-day event from like 10-6 or something to that effect....it doesn't seem fair to those that have to drive great distances with fuel costs being what they are at the moment to have an event that only lasts 4 hours or so.

It also looks as though the site will be further outside of the DC area, it will be cheaper and better from a logistical standpoint. We're gonna firm up a location hopefully in the middle of the week.

Just a thought.....it would be nice if we were allowed to use the space until 9 or so. I would imagine those driving (oh, I don't know, like me Image) would leave the morning of and it would be nice to get in and be able to dabble with and talk Rics into the evening. There would still be plenty of time to go out for a late dinner and some fine beverages.

After being at the Columbus confluence and leaving at midnight I wished there was more time and that started in the early afternoon IIRC.

Just a thought.....

Personally, I don't know about the Ocean City idea, that is almost 200 miles further for Brian (I mean Brain!) and I to drive. Why can't we do it at Chris Pappas' place in Hagerstown? Image

How about Rockville, MD. , which is just west of D.C. ?

Jeff...my house won't hold 100 Rics AND 50-75 Ricophiles....Hagerstown IS a nice location though, nestled at the intersection of I-81 and I-70....

D.C. is probably the best location for most ....

Don can only get Montpelier for the evening of 11/5, and from the response we're getting we're going to need a venue all day...fear not, we're looking.

We will post links to local lodging once a venue is decided upon, some may want to get in on Friday night for a fresh start on the 5th, or leave to go home on Sunday...This, of course will be up to each one of you and how much time you have to attend...

Stay tuned...

AN UPDATE: I am going to look at a venue Wednesday 9/7, and will confirm the booking if it turns out to be satisfactory. If this will work for us we will also have a block of rooms reserved for those who choose to stay longer.

The location is here in Winchester, Virginia...right off of Interstate 81, and about an hour or so west of the Metro Washington DC area...Two hours south of Harrisburg Pa....Three hours from the Pittsburgh area and roughly the same from the Philly area via the Penna TPK, and 4-1/2 hours or so from Cleveland, and about the same from NYC.
Around six hours from Charlotte, NC....This is just an idea of distances for those who have to drive some distance.

More news when I have it....
