Nice one Howard...you going to gold it? TQ & gold were meant to be together.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

Thanks very much, Tony. Thinking about it....... Gold pickguards would look great, but I think you'd need a gold TRC and oven knobs to give it the complete look. What do you think?

You would definately need a gold TRC. Oven knobs....I must be the only one that doesn't like them (sorry Paul, each to their own). They probably look great on a cooker, but not on a large headstock Ric! They would look more in keeping if it had a small headstock, but even then..... I would change them to the all black vintage style knobs.

My only concern on golding it would be how the white binding would look with the gold pickguard. I know the 660's do it, but at least the binding is checked, breaking up the effect some what.

Yes, Tony. I'd thought of the TQ/gold/white combination myself. I guess there are quite a few around that have gold guards, but probably not TRC. I agree with your thoughts on the knobs - maybe I just got a bit carried away with the gold thing!

I might check out Pickguardian on the gold guards. If it's not overly expensive, it might just be a worthwhile exercise to get a set and see how it looks.

Gold guards and oven knobs would look great on it.
It's fine just the way it is too.

Forget about that stuff for a while and tell us how it sounds! The 620 is one model I've not had the pleasure to try.

No need to apologize, Tony...I have chromies on my 325. I tried ovens and they looked over the top. I have left the standard Rick knobs on my unmolested ES-16, too.

Aitch, vintage style are the way to go. And gold guards.

Noel, of course it sounds like s**t. That's why Aitch is avoiding the topic.

It does sound like doggie doo-doos at the moment! The strings are filthy - I'll put new Rick ones on it tonight. The most important thing is that it feels great - lovely neck!!

Howard, congrats on your 620! It looks stunning! Perfect color and what you do with the TRC and the guards, as far as color is concerned, well, 'ya got plenty of time to make changes, if you wish. Say, do those strings have a multi-color sheen to them with a little bit of grime thrown in for good measure?

Thanks, Stan. Yes.... picture #4 gives you a good idea of the condition of the unwound strings. I ran my finger down the E string this morning and it felt like razor wire!! Shockin'......... !!

Howard that guitar is a beauty. I would keep her stock if it was mine. I love the colour contrast with the white pickguard etc.

Crank her up and let us know how she sounds once you have given her a new set of strings.

I am very pleased for you that she arrived in good shape.

Thanks, Brian. I think I'll go with the vintage knobs (if I can get a set) and think about the gold pickguard.

How was the long weekend?

Glad to be back Howard. I hate leaving my herd of guitars alone without a shepherd.

I just finished wrenching out a scorcher of a solo on one of my custom jobs. I had forgotten how much juice was in that guitar.

But we digress.
