Even though those inlays are full width, they just don't do much for me.

I had a bass with the mop inlays ... I always thought that material looked like cheap 60's plastic ... I really like the inlay material on new Rics ... also the grover tuners always looked cheap to me ... like they are about to fall apart ... and a lot of them do ... but what I do like about old rics is checked binding ...

Hee hee! No offense taken, I think someone else referred to them as "bathroom tiles"! Thanks for the kind words guys, I appreciate it muchly! It IS a beautiful bass, in fact too beautiful for me. After tiptoeing around this one for a couple of years I've come to the realization that, really, I kind of prefer beaters! Is that...wrong?

Seth, nothing wrong with that at all. I have just bought a stunning MG 72. It will only be used for lightweight jazz gigs. The heavy duty work will be carried out by my 78 Burg & 80 Azureglo.

Seth, I prefer 'em too, I feel like I can't play mint guitars.... give me something in the condition of Jaco's Bass of Doom and I'm happy (that's not to say my guitars are in that sort of condition BTW!).

I like the ones with a little wear also. Kind of hard to play like I play on one that is absolutely mint.
