Sir Paul on the cover of Bass Player

Post by lowendbob »

Just got my new issue today and Paul's on the cover peering down the body of his Hofner.
Haven't read the issue yet. Wonder if there is any mention of his Ric?
Buy it before someone else does.

Paul always sounded better with the Ric ...

Too bad he won't play it anymore...

If Elvis Costello convinced McCartney to get out the Hofner in the 80's after he hadn't used it for awhile, maybe McCartney needs to record/play with someone who will convince him to get out the RIC. How bout it Jeff? You can do it! Image

sure ... I'll just invite Paul over for dinner and then wander into my basement and the next thing you know I will have him playing a 5 string 4004 ... oh gee ... I don't seem to have his phone number ...

But, you know, the Hofner sounds pretty good in his hands. Sure, it doesn't have the growl, but it's got plenty of bottom, at least the way he has it set up in concerts. Just recently watched the Red Square video, and it sounded great.

He played his RIC on the "Spike" album on the opening track "This Town".

Great, get Jeff to convert Paul to a 5 string bass and Paul will pull out his old Wal bass and that will be the end of the Rickenbacker!

I like the reversed image, Jeff. Doesn't Paul have a 4 string version of one of those?

I wouldn't be mad if he switched back to the Wal. He did say it's a bit heavy so I doubt he would.

He has a Jetglo 4003s5 anyway. That was backup for the Wal.
