I saw Roger McGuinn in April and he sounded great.
It was sponsored by WPLR, a Hartford radio station, but the site was in Meridan Ct.
He played all the songs that Lee Paxton listed in Roger's Performances but he also played "Knockin'
on Heaveans Door".
My question to anyone out there is - Is there either a Byrds or McGuinn recording of Knockin' on Heavens Door???
Roger plays Connecticut - April 27th 2002
Yeah, Roger plays on Dylan's original version of "Knockin' on Heavens Door" (as well as a couple other tracks from the album / film soundtrack "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" 1973). 1973 must've been a busy year for McGuinn. He released his very first solo album, participated in the Byrds reunion album, and was on Dylan's "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid", all that same year.
Also, Roger does his own version of "Knockin' on Heavens Door", and it can be found on his album entitled "Roger McGuinn and Band" (1975). It's actually a pretty good version, and the rest of the album isn't bad either (regardless of what Johnny Rogan thinks about this particular 1975 album). I think it's a pretty good album.
