Tell me does it feel the same when you've set upon a change but your heart's in the old times?

You are correct sir! A tuxedo has a white fingerboard with black dots.

I believe some people refer to any black and white Ric, as a Tuxedo.

In my mind, a Tuxedo is a SPC, (Special Paint Color, I think) which has a white fret-board on it.

They look amazing, the fingerboard looks cool but for some reason I imagine it not to play well, I guess it would feel plasticy - how does the neck feel on them?

Here's a shot of Ted Staberow's Tux from the Columbus confluence. A handsome machine, no doubt.

Since we're talking about tux's here, has anyone ever seen one with a maple fingerboard with black pin dots?

I remember an old video called "Everyones a Winner", by a '70's-'80's funk band called "Hot Chocolate". And I swear the bass player had an all white Rick with black trim, but it had a maple neck with black dot inlays. Thats long before I even knew what a Rick Tuxedo was.

I dunno, I do believe tux's have maple fingerboards right? maybe a prototype??

Faker?? Hmmm.

To be honest with you all, I really cant believe I remember all that, but It always sticks out in my mind everytime I see a Tuxedo.

I remember the 'Everyone's a Winner' video. Yeah, I believe the white 'Rick' on it to be a fake, as it had too many irregular features to be a real Rick if I remember correctly.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Ted has been absent due to family issues, but he promises to come back as soon as he can. He's also working on a couple of Forum member's basses, so he's got plenty on his mind. When things settle down, he'll be back.

Man.

Sorry, but that ebay bass has not simply gone "cream with age": that monster's gotten downright moldy!

Still, if it were at about half the asking price, i might bid on it as a player-bass. I walk on pins and needles around my mint 4003... It'd be kind of nice to have a "basher".

Paul, thanks for answering the question I posed not more than 30 seconds ago on another post. Ted, hope all is well, we're thinking of you, hope to see you round these parts soon!
