I think there is a good chance that there are more 4005 series basses out there from 65-67 than 4001 basses. I can't recall seeing a 66 or 67 4001 deluxe bass for sale in the last five years. I have only ever seen a couple of examples, both 66 basses.
I know of 4 4001S basses from 67. They obviously made a very limited run of these that year, although they were never even listed for sale in the Ric literature at the time.
In 68 the 4001 starts to appear far more often.
