How would he have viewed the last 20 years? How would he be in general? What would he be doing? Is he the most missed man of all time?...

Look at my user name that should tell you a lot.
If John were still here I suspect that he would be either in New Orleans right now doing what he could to help those who desperately need help or perhaps helping organize a benefit concert.
He was a conflicted man inside but he was not one to sit idly on the sidelines when faced with a monumental task.

Geesh, he was a very talented musician, not Superman. He was an artist with a conscience, not the Red Cross. Yes, I could see him assisting in a benefit concert, but c'mon!
And he was clear about him NOT being some superbeing. It is us mega-fans who do the damage by hoisting these people up on a pedestal. Yes, having a role model like late-period Lennon is not a bad thing, but after all that hero stuff, he was just another person. Famous, yes. Talented, no doubt.
He was a celebrity who used his position to advance ideas, causes, beliefs, passions that were important to himself, and many others. But he was never a Messiah.
"I don't believe in Beatle"...and all that stuff. That song says it very well.

How much!?!
Mick,
Please don't over react. I simply said that if he was here he would probably be doing his part. That's what he used to be all about. You know? Give Peace a Chance was more than an expression or a song for John. Subjective and deductive reasoning is all that is in play here. Not messiah worship. Just some people on this thread who feel like they lost a friend.
Yes he was a flawed man I alluded to that but the question was "How would he be in general? What would he be doing? Is he the most missed man of all time?...

Personally, I think we would've seen John in the Anthology....that would have been absolutely EXPLOSIVE!!
The lads may have even gotten together again under a different name, or something to that effect...maybe done some really cool benefit concerts.

Brian...cool. I am a Lennon fan too, but it was his basic humanity (and humility), after having been such a megastar, that is most impressive. But I highly doubt the Beatles would have ever reformed. What do I know???? But it would have never been the same. Better to leave it in the past, where it will always be an unfettered memory.

Yeh Mick I am sure that we know the real John. Mistakes, warts, frail human moments and all. We charted his high moments and felt his low ones too.
That's why I loved him like a brother. He was real and not pretentious.
That to me is the true test of humanity. Being able to love those who are not perfect and trying to do your part to make a difference in this screwed up world.
John could never make that much difference but every flutter of a butterfly's wings contributes to the winds of change.............
Peace brother.

I think we would have gained some more good John tunes. I think he would have mellowed as they all did. A Tv appearance or something of that nature together would not have been out of the question. They had some rough patches but they were all mates.
I think he would have dumped Yoko. Enought with all of that cat howling.
