I hate to change the subject from the 'Goofy to the sublime', but it wasn't enough Lennon's ex is coming out with, essentially, her second tell-all book but on the horizon is yet another Beatles bio. Yes, that's right sports fans. Simply entitled, The Beatles (catchy), Robert Spitz has managed to come up with 928 pgs. of material. As far as what he found for 'new' content, other than every interview they ever did, I have no idea. It hits the bookshelves Nov. 7th.

Stan: I don't know how many of these Beatles bios I've read over the years, but I'm sure the first was Hunter Davies' published in 1968. It is annoying to see the same tired stories retold over and over again. I am currently reading the Tony Bramwell book 'Magical Mystery Tours'. It provides a few insights, but I've spotted a few errors too. For instance, when he describes the late sixties London underground club scene. He says that UFO was a heavy rock band that many of hipsters were into. That was actually a club where Pink Floyd played regularly. Mistakes like this cast doubt on many of his recollections.

So right, Randy. Candidly I can't think of a thing I wish to read on them, because its already been printed or spoken or taped. I doubt if Mr. Spitz has unraveled any mind-boggling information in his book. A book of girth and likely little else.

I've finished it. She goes into a bit about Johnandyoko's treatment of Julian among other things. Most surprising - her take that Aunt Mimi wasn't the stern but lovable aunt, more like a mean and vicious lady who regularly humiliated John (must be where he got it); and she says if she had it to do all over - she'd not marry John. More interesting than her first (written while John was still alive), and I'm all for getting more than the "official" story from Yoko "John-and-I-are-artists" Ono's team.
