According to RIC serial # HB 400 WAS made in February 1968. Not to say that that jack plate is original to that particular guitar

here's a real 1968 serial number HI ...

http://www.3dentourage.com/425/68-ric-2.htm

OK the tailpiece is wrong, the treble pickup is wrong, the treble pickup surround is wrong, the TRC looks fishy, the heel is wrong, the nut looks wrong as well ... damn ... that's a lot of questions ... the real test is to put your hand around the neck ...

If I’m not mistaken, that bass that MP had was not a post mod – it came out of the factory like that – by mistake I’m sure. Appears to be a V63 transition to a C64S.

Thumbrest in the wrong place, v63 bridge, tuners, modern type square heel well away from the body( the old ones were much closer).
Ask to see the trussrods....

Ken, good call. My serial number is H3. Thanks for setting me straight. I guess I should pull that thing out and play it a bit more often.

He emailed me back and said the serial number matched up to this model being made in "67. Thanks again. Like I said, I really should play it a bit more than I do.
