Ive emailed the bidders of this item to let them know this is a bogus item plus contacted ebay.I urge everyone else to do he same otherwise re stamping and changing serial #s is something were going to have to deal with more often,lets either get this item pulled or show the seller theres no profit in it or he and his Buddy's will start up a new racket were going to have to deal with anyway.LETS PUT A STOP TO IT BEFORE IT GETS OUT OF HAND.

....not to mention that restamping/changing the serial numbers before selling to make a profit is tantamount to fraud...see the Rickenbacker web site's FAQ - "I would like to buy a new truss rod cover or "R" Tailpiece. Why does Rickenbacker require me to trade in my old one?"
(Jack plates are also discussed in the answer).

O.K.,

I emailed a bunch of you some of the pictures, forwarded from the seller.

I didn’t think it was ethical to post them, without his permission.

Let me know what you think.

If you didn’t get a copy, email me offline and I will send them to you.

Ken;

The tail piece and the V.P. looks right.

All that rust.

Do you think the bass was “antiqued” to look older?

Ohh yeah,the tuners for example should be klusens they don't rust there nickle plated,plus the screw in back on a 60s klusen is straight blade not Philip head ,the tailpiece has the extra screws[v63] the caps in the wiring harness should be yellow or blue.......Ask too see the truss rods,and the front side of the toaster,Look at it this way its ot original 68 no two ways about it...square heals went
out in 65-66 my 67 has a rounded heal...Lets pretend it was a real 68,OK whats 68 about it, the body? its been altered, no other part on the bass is 68 so what do you have? Garbage!!!!Thats from any collectors point of view.Would you buy a 60s Corvette thats been modified to the point it cant be brought back to original ever? where does the value on it go...but its not a 68 in the first place and it is fraud ...

Rickenbacker never does ****** wiring like this ...

and for how beat up everything is that toggle switch is way too clean ... the toggle switch is always the first thing to corrode in there ... if anybody in the Ric factory soldered that badly John Hall would fire them ... or transfer them to another dept ... and that extra ground wire is wrong ...

Yup, all that Ken and Jeff said. The hardware is wrong and the body is too. It is a V made to look like a 68....Poorly...

I would buy the bass for $500 and restore it with nice new clean parts and make it like a "Wings" bass ... but all of the metal, plastic, and electronics would have to be replaced ... damn ... it looks like it was looted from a New Orleans music store after the hurricane ...

the jack plate does look real ... but I would guess it is not the one that came on that bass ... the screws look correct as well and so does the pickguard ...
