Ringo's Home To Be Disassembled

Post by admin »

Johnny Five's alive. No disassemble. Check out the latest with regard to Ringo's home.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Joni Mitchell wrote about that sort of thing in 1969

"They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"

In this case it's hardly paradise but it certainly is part of the city's rich heritage. Sadly a heritage that the nouveau rich and developers want to destroy and obviously, they have won the day.

We've got Captain Cook's cottage.......... I'd happily vote for a swap with Ringo's first house!!

Ringo's childhood house is one thing, but rearing down the Cavern is the real tragedy.

Yeah, in the early '80's, I stood across from where the Cavern had been, then just an empty lot. But, dang, I could hear the music reverberating down that small street (it was a Sunday, not another soul in sight). A magical moment in my life.

Somewhere arond 1995 I went to Liverpool. Visiting the rebuilt Cavern was fascinating but it just wasn't the same as had it been the real deal.

Then I went across the street and had a couple of pints an "the Grapes".... THAT was also a trip as just sitting in the same booths made me imagine is was 1961-2 all over again. **sigh**
